Who Are We?
Robert Corio Designs has been a well-known and respected jeweler in Rhode Island since 1974. For 50 years we have been making custom jewelry and continue to satisfy many new and repeat customers. Our company's single and unbending philosophy is that jewelry should be made in the way the art form calls for. Over the years, Robert has embraced modern technology in jewelry design, married with tools and techniques dating back thousands of years. All custom design work is done, start to finish, at our extensive facility in Johnston, RI. Also on site, is a gallery of fine jewelry featuring Corio's unique designs often inspired by customers. The only limit to what can be made is imagination.
Also under the umbrella of Robert Corio Designs is our retail store, Hegeman & Company. Located in Providence, RI, the store has been a go-to for jewelry design, repairs, appraisals, and other services since 1970. The original owner, Richard Hegeman, was both a lapidary and jewelry designer. Richard Hegeman and Robert Corio had a longtime friendship. Upon Richard’s passing, Robert purchased the storefront to carry on the Hegeman legacy. The store still showcases some of Richard’s designs, his bench, and a plethora of his old tools that create the shop's unique decor.
Robert Corio’s son, Matthew Corio, has taken the reigns at Hegeman & Co. Following in family tradition, Matthew specializes in custom design and is a GIA certified gemologist. As a designer, Matthew encourages the customer to “Custom design your own!” He brings any and all ideas to fruition with the customer involved every step of the way. With Matthew’s experience, Hegeman & Co. maintains its status as a business built on decades of expertise, individualization, and honesty. The overarching goal is to preserve the reputation of quality and excellence, and bring to the same guiding principles to The Right Ring, as well as all new ventures.

The Right Ring is Rhode Island based, featuring a manufacturing establishment and two store fronts. Our factory and jewelry showcase are located at Robert Corio Designs, in Johnston, RI. Our satellite store is Hegeman & Co., located on South Main St., in Providence, RI. We encourage personal design consultations and would be delighted to present our diverse collection in person. Do you have an idea for a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece?
Custom orders can be created using the customer’s gemstones from previously owned or inherited jewelry.
If you can visualize it, we can make it.
We take your ideas and create a 3D design in Matrix Gold.
The virtual model created can be rotated and shifted to show every angle of the design. With it, every millimeter of the piece can be planned out with perfect symmetry.
Next, we create a 3D render.
Our custom design process is especially unique. Our software allows us to show customers precisely what the final product will look like, from all angles, with 3D printing and rendering.
We can create exactly what you envision, from the simplest to the most intricate of designs.
Once approved, the image is 3-D printed in resin.
A wax resin replica of your item is made for you to examine, try on, and make revisions if needed.
Finally we cast, set, and polish.
Using the resin, a casting is made with the metal of choice. We use platinum, 18K yellow gold, and 18K rose gold in our designs. From here, the piece is finished and polished, stones are set, and final touches are made. The quality and care we take with each individual piece keeps our clients coming back.
